Industry-led, volunteer-fueled; Cindependent Film Festival is Cincinnati’s home for independent filmmakers. Founded in 2017 by Producer and Director Allyson West, Cindependent returns for its long-awaited festival post Covid. Our team is now comprised of over 30 individuals committed to the success of a great festival. As Cincinnati's only all-genre, all-type film festival - we are dedicated to full audiences and life-changing experiences. The majority of films screen in the 556-seat Memorial Hall theater. Below in twin ballrooms are two full days of live screenplay reads from accepted screenwriters and classes by industry visionaries to ensure you leave our festival with more resources than you came in with. ArtWorks has employed and trained over 3,500 professional artists and 4,000 youth, ages 14 – 24. The Cure Starts Now represents something truly different – a grassroots effort dedicated to, not just fighting one cancer, but the elimination of ALL cancers. We believe as the experts do; that in order to truly cure cancer you have to focus on: - those cancers that are immune to treatment - those cancers that also affect children - and those cancers that are the biggest bullies with the highest death rate We call this the Homerun CureTM, but the idea isn’t new. As a matter of fact, this Homerun strategy dates back to the early 1900’s when bold advances in cancer research were made, leading to the invention of surgical efforts, radiation and finally chemotherapy. But the advancements stopped, leaving many patients behind without hope of survival. Resources were prioritized for those cancers that affected the most people rather than those we could learn the most from, and the focus shifted from cures to treatments. Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati, was founded in 1938, and serves more than 30 hospitals in 18 counties in Southwestern Ohio, Northern Kentucky and Southeastern Indiana. Annually, Hoxworth collects more than 100,000 units of blood from local donors at our blood drives and in our Neighborhood Donation Centers located in Anderson, Blue Ash, Central, Ft.
