Willow Run is a tribute to the rich history of Cincinnati and the legacy of its founder, William J. McRoberts Jr. Established in 1865. Willow Run embodies the city’s spirit of freedom, courage, and resilience. McRoberts, an Irish immigrant, played a pivotal role in the Underground Railroad early in his career, using bourbon barrels to help escaping slaves cross the Ohio River to freedom. This profound connection to Cincinnati's past drives our mission to revive the grand tradition of 1800s barrel blenders. Our premium bourbon is actually named after W.J. McRoberts.
Unique Tasting Experiences:
At Willow Run, we believe everyone should have their own custom bourbon. Among other offerings, we offer three distinctive ways to taste and experience our exceptional bourbon:
1. Custom Bourbon Blending Experience: Dive into the art of bourbon blending and create your own custom blend. In this 45-minute experience, you'll work with six unique bourbons, learn about the history of bourbon, Cincinnati, and Willow Run, and craft your own bourbon recipe. 2. “Flight School” – Cocktail & Bourbon Experiences: Elevate your bourbon journey with our Flight School at our Teaching Bar, where you'll sample a curated selection of bourbon flights paired with expertly crafted cocktails for a truly immersive tasting experience. Takes approximately 20-30 minutes; no reservation needed.
3. Bourbon Wizard – AI & Bourbon Pick Experiences: Step into the future of bourbon tasting with our Bourbon Wizard experience. Customers can also enjoy a flight of their choosing, enjoy bourbon-based cocktails, full pours of any of our bourbons, and small bites.
Willow Run is located downtown Cincinnati at 645 Walnut St., at the corner of 7th and Walnut, directly across from the Aronoff Center. Willow Run is a WoodCraft® Bourbon Blender Franchisee. WoodCraft® was developed by the team that founded the Brain Brew Distillery in Newtown Ohio.
Wow what an experience. I can’t say enough about our host for the custom experience Tashauna was awesome. Her knowledge and personality made this experience. Then let’s talk about the great bourbon. My favorite was the curious cask.
Wow, what a cool experience! If you like bourbon or are interested in learning about how bourbon is blended I totally recommend checking out this place. The custom bourbon blending experience was excellent. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. We learned about the history of bourbon in Cincinnati while getting to taste some of the basic but tasty bourbons used in their bourbon blends. Then, the best part, was that we got to do our own little blending experiments. We even got our own tiny ladles to spoon the bourbon in exact increments.
Maybe the neatest thing about the evening was taking the online quiz to determine what my favorite blend of bourbon would be. After I got my results, I blended the recipe myself and it was DELICIOUS!
If you are looking for an event to do downtown this is perfect. It would make a great date night. They open to the public on September 12th!
Great atmosphere, bourbon blending experience was a lot of fun. After experimenting with your blends you can get a custom blend tailored to your taste and preference. The focus on you enjoying bourbon your way was fantastic. Can't wait to return!!!!! The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable.
What an amazing place! Super cool atmosphere, located right on the corner so it's easy to get to. The custom bourbon blending experience is awesome and one you will want to do over and over! I definitely recommend checking this place out.
Just did the custom bourbon experience and it was amazing! The person presenting gave history of bourbon and the distillery, then went into detail on flavor profiles and mixing tips. By the end, I was able to make two mixes I love. Can't wait to share this experience with others!
The Bourbon Experience is great for a night out or a group in town or anyone who appreciates Bourbon in general. Drinks are great, staff is great. Highly recommend checking it out.
A fantastic bourbon experience! You can blend your own bourbons or try the house blends. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. A fantastic way to spend the evening.
This place is on a corner and when you enter you get a rustic vibe. I had 2 cocktails, the whiskey daisy and whiskey sour. Let me tell you these are elevated! Best I've ever had. Not only that but you can get custom shots for your drink! Prices are competitive, better than surrounding fancy restaurants though. Highly recommend even if no one in your group is a bourbon lover. You will love it.
The bourbon experience was great for a new comer to learn about bourbon, the presentation was great with history, and the atmosphere was amazing. Definitely will return.
