About

Adventure Crew connects city teens in Greater Cincinnati with nature and each other through outdoor adventures. Founded in 2013, the nonprofit now serves all Cincinnati Public Schools high schools, seventh and eighth graders in select CPS elementary schools, and six schools in Northern Kentucky – a total of 27 schools and nearly 1,000 students per year. Through challenging monthly adventures, city teens develop the courageous spirit to step out of their comfort zone and discover new worlds – outside in nature and inside themselves. This deep connection to nature will set a positive course for their lives – and help create the next generation of environmental stewards.

Gear Sale & Donation Day

Adventure Crew is hosting its annual gear sale and donation day at MadTree Brewing in Oakley from 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 25.

Sellers can register (no fee required!) in advance to sell paddle craft, bikes, hiking equipment, outdoor apparel and other gently used adventure gear. Seller registration will close January 20 or when space is filled.

If you'd rather buy than sell, mark your calendar and plan to come shop for deals on new-to-you items! It's a great way to both save cash and shop sustainably.

Adventure Crew will also accept gear donations for our teens and for resale at the event. Our most-needed items for adventures are winter coats, snow pants, water shoes, sleeping bags (20 degrees or below) and sleeping pads (not inflated by mouth). Larger size coats and snow pants are especially welcome! We'll sell other donated gear to support our mission to connect city teens with nature and each other through outdoor adventures. Either way, your donation makes a difference!

When: January 25, 2025 10:00AM - 1:30PM
Where: MadTree Brewing, 3301 Madison Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45209

Derick Lugo: "The Unlikely Thru-Hiker"

Derick Lugo set out on the Appalachian Trail with no hiking experience -- and an extremely overweight backpack. Through his journey, he learned lessons on preparation, humility, race relations and nature’s wild unpredictability, lessons he wrote about in his memoir, "The Unlikely Thru-Hiker."

Derick will join Adventure Crew on Friday, February 7 for an inspiring evening at the beautifully renovated Mercantile Library. Adventure Crew’s RAD (Raising Access and Diversity) Women's Collective is hosting Derick as a kickoff to its speaker series. The evening begins with a 6 p.m. reception (cash bar available), followed by Derick's presentation at 6:30 p.m. and a Q&A session. Tickets are $15. All proceeds support Adventure Crew's mission of connecting city teens with nature and each other through outdoor adventures.

Special thanks to event sponsors Roads Rivers and Trails, Summit Trek & Travel and The Mercantile Library.

When: February 7, 2025 6:00PM - 8:00PM
