In 1963, the four Daoud brothers pulled together enough cash to purchase Hamburger Heaven in Cincinnati, Ohio. Along with burgers and fries came a recipe for Cincinnati-style chili. In 1965, they added flavor to the recipe with their secret 13-spice blend, changed the restaurant’s name to Gold Star and a chili legend was born. We challenged the template of typical back then and have been defying the status quo ever since. At Gold Star, we are unafraid to question convention and to venture beyond established boundaries. Inspired by the classic recipes of her beloved grandma Mimi, Elizabeth created a bakery that uses the finest, simple ingredients and brings celebration into each and every day. Elizabeth’s time with Mimi forged an immeasurable bond and created a passion for baking that she knew she wanted to share with her family and friends. After raising her two children Torie and Spencer, Elizabeth enrolled in the Midwest Culinary Institute to cultivate her skills in culinary and pastry arts. She graciously shared her goodies with her Ft. Mitchell community and soon the demand was greater than her professional home kitchen could support. The dream of owning her own bakery soon became a reality and in the heart of the town she calls lovingly calls home. If you can’t spell it, Little Flour won’t bake with it.
