The Purple People Bridge connects the communities of Newport, Kentucky and Cincinnati, Ohio together as a safe and well-maintained regional attraction that serves as a historic landmark, people connector, recreational trail, event space, and an iconic community asset that improves economic development and quality of life on both sides of the Ohio River.
Since 2001, the Purple People Bridge Company have owned and operated the ever popular, “Purple People Bridge” – a pedestrian-only bridge that stretches 2,670 feet (.5 mile) across the Ohio River. Today the bridge is the longest connector of its kind in the country, and has linked both Kentucky and Ohio together since 1872.

In 1963, the four Daoud brothers pulled together enough cash to purchase Hamburger Heaven in Cincinnati, Ohio. Along with burgers and fries came a recipe for Cincinnati-style chili. In 1965, they added flavor to the recipe with their secret 13-spice blend, changed the restaurant’s name to Gold Star and a chili legend was born. We challenged the template of typical back then and have been defying the status quo ever since. At Gold Star, we are unafraid to question convention and to venture beyond established boundaries. Memorial Hall OTR
Memorial Hall is conveniently located in the heart of the revitalized arts district of Over-the-Rhine. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978, this exquisite venue overlooks Washington Park, and is neighbor to Music Hall, the Transept, the School for Creative and Performing Arts, and the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company.
Memorial Hall also houses a special collection of artwork and artifacts of local civic and military history. More than 40 pieces are on display throughout the building, including the storied wreath that is said to have adorned Abraham Lincoln's casket when it passed through Columbus, Ohio. Other pieces previously on display are under the care of the Hamilton County Public Library and the Cincinnati Museum Center.
Hosting more than 250 events each year, Memorial Hall offers an elegant setting for performances and unique spaces for social and business functions.
