Ken Anderson Alliance

Ken Anderson Alliance is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation creating "Live, Work, Engage" opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities. We are beginning in Cincinnati and hope to create integrated models and options that can be replicated across the U.S. We believe that adults with disabilities have the human and civil rights to live, work, play, socialize, recreate, love, learn, and worship in the settings and manner of their choosing, with the support of families, friends, and caregivers. In November 2017, we launched PLAY (now ENGAGE), social experiences designed by adults with disabilities for adults with disabilities that include a wide variety of small group community outings with staff and volunteer supports. Our survey of adults with disabilities reveal their most frequent request is to socialize with peers and be in the community. We are currently working to launch WORK, real, paid, integrated employment opportunities through urban agriculture, microenterprises, and community partners. We will augment these with vocational workshops to explore and develop work interests, talents, and abilities. Our plan is to build our first community, The Commons at Springfield, in Springfield Township. The Commons at Springfield will be an innovative, integrated beneficial residential community that provides permanent supportive, affordable housing for a neurodiverse blend of adults with and without developmental disabilities who have a range of support needs. Aruna Project

The 15th Annual Cincinnati Aruna Run expo will be held at MadTree Brewery in Oakley, Ohio on Sunday, September 1, 2024 from 9:00 am-3:00 p.m. This event will benefit the Aruna Project, a US non-profit dedicated to creating lifelong freedom for survivors of human trafficking through employment marked by holistic care. By providing empowerment through employment, Aruna creates lifelong freedom for women by helping them find their voice, experience independence, and develop a marketable job skill alongside a sisterhood of others who have overcome. Through its products and events, you can literally help set free and give the liberating power of choice to women like Reshma, Fathima, Pooja and so many others, while also celebrating freedom in your own adventure. The Aruna Run Race Series is the catalyst of the freedom process, with the money raised flowing into Aruna’s Training Centers in areas of high sexual exploitation in South Asia. Once freed, the women are offered full-time employment in Aruna’s Freedom Business, where they are trained to produce the line of Athleisure bags and headbands sold in its online store, at events, and at select retail locations. The proceeds from the sale of the products are reinvested into the Freedom Business to fund the holistic care each Artisan receives: a living wage, safe housing, healthcare, retirement savings, and counseling. Memorial Hall OTR

Memorial Hall is conveniently located in the heart of the revitalized arts district of Over-the-Rhine. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978, this exquisite venue overlooks Washington Park, and is neighbor to Music Hall, the Transept, the School for Creative and Performing Arts, and the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company. Memorial Hall also houses a special collection of artwork and artifacts of local civic and military history.
